School Year 2023-2024 Busing Requests

PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING CHART FOR TRANSPORTATION ELIGIBILITY!

Transportation Eligibility

*Please Note: 7th and 8th Graders ONLY receive Metrocards - if parents wish for their child to receive busing they MUST apply through the following link and complete a ticket with one of the following exceptions...*

 
 
 
If a student is not eligible for transportation but is experiencing difficult circumstances, an exception can be requested due to the following:
  • Student is in temporary housing
  • Student is in foster care
  • Student transferred from temporary housing to permanent housing
  • There is a hazard or obstruction that makes walking to the school, current bus stop, or public transportation unsafe for the child 
  • The child is a victim of or was involved with a crime and/or has an Order of Protection, and needs transportation to address the situation
    - This exception requires the order of protection or police report attached to the request
  • The child already receives busing, and the child's parents/guardians have a joint custody agreement and would like to receive transportation to both addresses

Busing Exception Requests can now be entered for next school year through Support Hub.

Read below for step by step instructions and details...

  1. Click: Transportation
  2. Click: I need to request an exception to transportation eligibility.
  3. Scroll down to: Create a Ticket
  4. Click: Continue as Guest or sign in to your NYC Schools Account
  5. Fill out all parent and student information required by a red asterisk (Please note you will need your child's Student ID or OSIS) 
  6. Select School *: 24Q005
  7. This request is for school year *: 2023-2024
  8. This request is for school term *: Fall (Sept - Jun)
  9. Please select the reason for the request *: There is a hazard or risk that makes walking to the school, current bus stop, or public transportation unsafe for the student.
  10. Fill out Borough and Street/Intersections that you may deem hazardous or a risk - For example: Queens Blvd, Roosevelt Ave, Broadway Ave, Junction Blvd, etc.
  11. Check off the boxes you think apply for each intersection or street
  12. Submit - you will receive a ticket confirmation number
YOU MUST WAIT TO HEAR BACK FROM OPT THROUGH EMAIL!
AT THIS TIME WE DO NOT HAVE AN ESTIMATED RESPONSE TIME AND I.S. 5 CANNOT ADD STUDENTS TO BUSING. ALL EXCEPTIONS MUST GO THROUGH THE OFFICE OF PUPIL TRANSPORTATION.
